The Berkeley Kite Festival

Berkeley fest 08
(click me for more photos!)

Every year, the last weekend in July, is the Berkeley Kite Festival put on by Tom McAlister of Highline Kites. Which means that the 2008 festival was a couple of weekends ago. This year Matt Bush and I volunteered to fly a train of giant fish (22' long) along with other general duties such as setup and breakdown for the festival. The weather was gorgeous the first day, but completely overcast on day 2. That didn't stop the crowds from coming out though, both days being quite busy. Unfortunately, because I was working the festival, I didn't get the chance to take as many photos as I'd have liked. But to see what photos I did get (many of them were actually taken by Amy during the first day), and to get a sense of the scale of the festival, click the photo above.
